On August 22, 2023, Novartis (SIX: NOVN) announced that it had agreed to transfer its real estate and certain infrastructure-related assets and services pertaining to the Life Science Park Rhine Valley in Stein, Canton of Aargau, Switzerland, to the industrial park operator Getec. Currently, almost 2,000 employees work in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on the Life Science Park Rhine Valley.
Upon completion of the transaction, the management and further development of the life science park will be taken over by Getec. The transfer is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 and 25 employees will move from Novartis to Getec.

CDR-Life

On April 13, 2022, CDR-Life Inc, a Swiss biotechnology company pioneering a new and differentiated class of highly tumor-specific immune-oncology therapeutics, announced the closing of its USD 76 m Series A financing led by Jeito Capital and RA Capital Management, with participation from Omega Funds.
Homburger advised CDR-Life in the transaction. The Homburger team was led by partner Daniel Häusermann and included lead associate Marc Schamaun as well as associates Anna Peter, Daniel Kuhn (all Corporate / M&amp;A), associate Philippe Weber (Tax) and junior associate Lars Schöni. Homburger partner Dieter Gericke served as independent director of CDR-Life until completion of the financing.

Swissport

On August 31, 2020, Swissport International AG (SPI) announced that SPI together with certain other entities of the Swissport group (Swissport) entered into a lock-up agreement for comprehensive restructuring which envisages debt-for-equity swap with approx. EUR 1.9 bn of existing debt converted into equity or extinguished and EUR 500 m in new long-term facility. Swissport also entered into binding documentation for a EUR 300 m super senior interim facility. This additional financing provides Swissport with liquidity to trade through the COVID-19 pandemic and to facilitate the restructuring process. Under the terms of the lock-up agreement, Swissport will shortly be launching an M&amp;A process to run in parallel with other restructuring steps as customary in such situations. The financial restructuring is expected to be completed in late 2020.
Swissport is world&#8217;s leader in airport ground services and air cargo handling, with 64,000 employees, achieved consolidated operating revenue of EUR 3.13 bn in 2019. At the end of December 2019, Swissport was active at 300 airports in 47 countries on six continents.
