IonQ, Inc., a leading commercial quantum computing and networking company, announced on May 6, 2025, the completion of its acquisition of a controlling stake in Geneva-based ID Quantique SA, a global leader in quantum-safe networking and quantum detection systems, from SK Telecom, the largest wireless telecommunications operator in South Korea. This strategic step strengthens IonQ&#8217;s leadership in end-to-end quantum solutions and expands its global footprint in secure communications. Homburger advised IonQ as Swiss counsel on the transactions.

Twelve Capital and Securis Investment Partners, two independent asset management specialists in Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS), have entered into an agreement to create a leader in ILS, with both sets of shareholders remaining fully invested. This will create a leading founder-led business and one of the largest, most experienced ILS managers globally with more than USD 7.8 bn in assets under management.
The Homburger team was led by Hansjürg Appenzeller and Daniel Daeniker (both Corporate / M&amp;A) and included Florian Bruggisser (Corporate / M&amp;A), Richard Stäuber, Allegra Arnold and Erik Habich (all Competition) as well as Stefan Oesterhelt and Juliette Buob (both Tax).

On May 24, 2024, KPMG Switzerland and KPMG UK announced that their respective partnerships had voted overwhelmingly in favor of merging their partnerships, creating a new USD 4.4 bn business, working across audit, tax and legal, and advisory. Both firms enter the merger from positions of strength as growing, profitable businesses in their respective home markets and have a long and strong history of working together for multinational clients. With a wider geographic coverage, the new firm will be able to expand its service and sector expertise complementing the already deep local market understanding for its national and international clients.
Homburger AG acted as legal counsel to KPMG Switzerland on the transaction.
